Generic aftermarket battery cables are often too long and use the wrong gauge cable, which can lead to poor grounding and excessive voltage drop. Our battery cables are tailor made to GM factory specifications for each application, so the length is correct and there is no excess cable to route or tuck away.
Cable gauge matters just as much as length. Many aftermarket cables use heavy-wall insulation to make the cable look like the correct gauge, while using less copper underneath. Our cables are made to the correct gauge for the application, with proper exterior insulation, factory-style side post battery ends and bolts, and original-style starter or solenoid lugs. Where the original GM design calls for mounting clamps, protective loom or part number identification, those details are reproduced as well. Every cable is manufactured in the USA and meets or exceeds GM and SAE specifications for its intended application.
Our side post battery cable ends match the original factory designs and include the correct attaching bolts. Starter and solenoid lugs are reproduced in the original style and include the required bend where applicable, helping the cable attach and route as GM intended.
Correct routing is an important part of a proper installation. Unlike most replacement cables, our assemblies include the application specific mounting and routing clamps called for by the original design, along with fire-retardant loom or protective sheathing where applicable.
Many original GM battery cables were identified with a part number stamped directly on the cable. We follow the original GM blueprint specifications and reproduce the correct part number stamping whenever it was called for, adding another important detail to an authentic restoration.
Higher-temperature XLPE Type SGX cable is rated to 125°C, compared with the 105°C PVC cable commonly used in aftermarket battery cables.
The necessary cable bolts are included, along with application specific clamps and protective loom where required, for a more complete installation.
